Shih-Wei Huang has been hailed by audiences and critics as a pianist of poetic insight and deeply expressive sound with communicative power.
She completed her studies at some of the most prestigious music schools in the world, earning a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, a Master of Music degree from Yale University, Meisterklasse at Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich, and Soloist Diploma and Pedagogy Degre from the Hochschule Luzern. She has been a student of distinguished pianists such as Hung-Kuan Chen, Claude Frank, Konstantin Lifschitz, Matti Raekallio, Antti Siirala, Ruth Slenczynska, Rolf-Peter Wille and Daming Zhu. She has received numerous awards, including first prize of the International Mauro Paulo Monopoli Città di Barletta Piano Competition, the International Dorothy Mackenzie Artist Recognition Award in New York, CHIMEI Artist Award and Hella Siegrist-Fonds in Luzern.
Born in Taipei, she has been performing since the age of 12 in many of the finest music venues in Europe, the United States, and Asia, and collaborated with major orchestras such as the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, the National Taiwan Sym-phony Orchestra, and the Warsaw Symphony Orchestra. Since 2021 she has written a piano book "Musikreise" featuring original compositions.
She currently resides in Switzerland.
